Friendly Match Report- PMC .vs. CMC [12th August]
CMC controlled the early tempo of the match, playing balls on the ground to their pacy wingers who looked to exploit gaps in PMC's defence. However, none of their attacks produced a goal and slowly, the PMC team was starting to find its foothold on the match, playing a combination of long balls and through passes down the centre of the CMC defence.
A crucial 1-minute period mid-way through the 1st half changed the complexion of the game. A delicate chip found PMC's Jimmy Phuah in space and his shot produced an acrobatic save from CMC's goalkeeper Rupert. The ball rebounded to a CMC player and a swift counter-attack led to CMC's 1st goal through the right wing. CMC 1, PMC 0. CMC spent the remainder of the 1st half pressing for another goal, but to no avail. Halftime.
Before the start of the 2nd half, Rev Edmund de Souza led both teams in prayer, as he thought there would proabably be more 'hot-heads' in the 2nd half..
PMC experimented with just 1 striker up front in order to control the match from midfield. The strategy worked and before long, the PMC wingers and midfielders were finding more space to supply the lone striker with ammunition. An infusion of pace through Marcus Tan and Daniel Low also helped. Some neat link-up play also saw the CMC keeper having to save shots from Isaac Chia and Sheldon Liew. Soon, the highly-anticiapted goal arrived-> a through-ball found its way to Justin Ang, who took the oppportunity to fire a stiff drive past the helpless CMC keeper. CMC 1, PMC 1. The rest of the match
saw both sides trying to press for the winner, but the match ended in a draw.
