A friendly match has been organised with Wesley Methodist Church for 28th February 2009, Saturday, 3pm @ East Spring Secondary School.
All Soccer Team members are welcomed to play. It will be our 2nd friendly of the year after our goal-less draw against CMC on 3rd Jan. It will be good to put some of the things we learnt at our last Training Session into practice.
To register for the friendly, please leave a comment on this post with your intention to participate. Please register ASAP so that Coach Ronnie can plan the appropriate tactics for the match, given the players who are coming. Thanks!

Soccer Fellowship Report [21st Feb]
The weather was just lovely for a time of fun and fellowship on the soccer field. Maurice started with a sharing on the importance of really caring for others and not just acting as curious bystanders.
It was great to see 26 players taking the field, with quite a few new players joining our ranks. The Darks had the bit between their teeth as they charged forward with their strong attacking play. The Brights tried to contain the attacks but very quickly, saw themselves two goals down - One through the centre and one from the right flank. The Darks continued to threaten through their lovely wing plays but the Brights were able to soak in the pressure. Half time Brights 2-0 Darks.
The start of second half saw the Darks attacked with full intent and deservingly clawed back a goal through a nice slide in by our Brazilian Felipe. It was a lapse in the Darks defence but that goal brought them to life. The lively wing play of the Darks once again brought them another two more goals.
The game ended Darks 4-1 Brights.
Ronnie did a post-moterm about our play and afterwhich, John closed us in a word of prayer. Praise the Lord for granting us this lovely time of soccer.

Soccer Training Report [14th Feb]
18 players turned up for Soccer Training at the newly laid artificial turf at Springfield Secondary School. The pitch was nice and soft but it was really really hot on the Saturday afternoon.

Daniel practicing free-kicksCoach Ronnie put us through the paces with some runs, passing and juggling drills. The emphasis was to improve our first touch and keep control of the ball. This would allow us more time when we have the ball in a competitive situation.
After a much needed water-break, training continued with players split into 2 teams to practice what was done earlier. There were numerous goals scored but some work still has to be done in the area of keeping possession and having composure while on the ball.
It was good workout for all who attended.

Training at Springfield today!!!!
Hi everyone,
Sports Council just called us this morning to inform us that East Spring Secondary is UNAVAILABLE because of a school camp. They have asked us to move to Springfield Secondary (Tampines Avenue 8) for our training session. The pitch has now been upgraded to an artificial turf, so we should be having a comfortable time there!
If you don't know how to get there, here's the map. Also, if you want to use the school car park, arrive before 3pm, otherwise, it's parking at the HDB car park behind the school and entry from the back gate.

Soccer Training [14th Feb]
Soccer Training is ON this Saturday, 14th February at East Spring Secondary School. The session will be from 3 - 5 pm and will be taken by our resident coach and ex-National player, Ronnie Liew. The first half of the session will be on soccer skills while the second half will feature game play.
Although this session is primarily for the PMC Soccer Team, all Community members are welcome to join in to improve their soccer skills and understanding of the game.
For team identification this week, please bring / wear BOTH a BRIGHT AND DARK jersey.

Soccer Fellowship Report [7th Feb]
The warm afternoon sun greeted both teams as we arrived at East Spring Secondary for another Saturday afternoon of soccer. Kevin shared with us the word, which strongly revolved around how Nike has been a symbol of victory for the Romans and how Christ should be our symbol of victory. Bearing that in mind, we begun our match with the goal of playing gracious football. It was a massive turnout of almost 30 players and we kicked off with a 15-versus-14 match, the Brights having a one-man advantage.
The match got off to a flying start when the Brights conceded an early goal from Bryan Chan. Andrew played a superb through-ball to Bryan, who broke the offside trap to finish with aplomb beyond Brights’ goalkeeper of the day, David Lim. Clearly stunned by the early goal, the Brights struggled to keep pace with the Dark Shirt’s play through the flanks. The game eventually spluttered to a ping-pong match where nobody really held possession long enough. A few half-chances were created by the Darks, one spurned by Sheldon when played through by a glorious pass from JZ. His shot was expertly saved by David, in what turned out to be his only other serious test for the first half.
However, the Darks managed to sneak a goal right at the end of the first half when Uncle John audaciously lobbed David. He had found space on the right side in the penalty box after a counter attack. While all expected a cross, Uncle John had other ideas. The Darks entered the break 2 goals up with the Brights not looking like they had a reply.
The second half started with the collective decision of each team to field 12 players instead so there would be more space for chances to be created. Indeed, that came to pass with the Brights drawing level after skill, good fortune and controversy.
The first goal was scored by Samuel Eyo off a Bright corner. The first ball was half cleared and when it was popped back into the box, it found Choon Heng unmarked at the far post. He let fly with a volley that looked to be going wide. Samuel Eyo appeared in the 6-yard area and clinically tapped the ball in with the touch reminiscent of a certain languid Bulgarian. The Brights were back in it with a shout.
The second Bright goal was down to some sloppy defending by the Darks. A harmless punt down the field was not properly dealt with by the Dark’s defenders and was allowed to bounce around the penalty area. Nigel looked to have been fouled during the melee and while he was on the ground, Xingli (was that his name?), a friend of Bevan, picked up the loose ball and drilled it beyond Felipe for the equalizer. Controversy was present in the form of a foul not being called. No replays to help the Brights there.
Nevertheless, the Darks rallied and their next goal came more as a gift than anything else. Daniel Low, playing as an auxiliary right back, mistook Bryan for a team mate and passed the ball to him. Bryan was left with a 1-on-1 against David and his finish did not disappoint. The Brights pulled back an equalizer through Joel.
However, the Darks had the last laugh. JZ, swapping flanks with Ernie, dispossessed a Bright defender near the right touchline and advanced on goal to score his first goal.
The match ended 4-3 with no injuries and many smiles on all faces. Maurice closed the session in prayer.

Soccer Fellowship [7th Feb]
The 3rd Soccer Fellowship session of the year is on this Saturday, 7th February at East Spring Secondary School. The session will be from 3 - 5 pm.
We will continue to split the teams according to DARK jerseys (dark grey, black, navy blue and dark green) and BRIGHT jerseys (white, yellow, light blue, red, orange). Please bring / wear BOTH a DARK AND BRIGHT jersey just in case we need to balance the teams out.
