As no one has responded that they will be coming, Soccer Fellowship will be cancelled for this Saturday.

Please respond urgently if you are available for the proposed friendly with TCC on 29th November 2008 by Monday morning latest. Thanks.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------

As the soccer fields in the East are not bookable after 8th November, Soccer Fellowship has been scheduled on this Saturday, 22th November, 3pm at Loyang Primary School (meet in PMC for devotion first). However, as some committee members are not able to make it, we would like to gather feedback on how many of you are intending to turn up.

Please register your intention to come for Soccer Fellowship this Saturday by leaving a comment on this post. Please let us know ASAP so that we can confirm whether to go ahead with Soccer Fellowship this Saturday. Thanks!

Friendly Match with TCC [29th November]

A friendly match has been proposed by Trinity Christian Centre on 29th November 2008, Saturday (likely to be 10am at Hiding Place). All Soccer Team members are welcomed to play and keep up with their competitive side of the game as we move into this year's close season in December. Also, the soccer fields in the East are not bookable after 8th November, so we are arranging friendlies with other churches to keep up with the playing.

To register, please leave a comment on this post with your intention to participate (and contact number). We will cap the number of players to about 16 so that everyone has significant playing time on match day. Please register ASAP so that I can confirm the field booking with TCC or postpone the friendly. Thanks!

See you on Saturday and please pray for good weather!

Soccer Fellowship Report [1st November]

It was raining heavily in the morning. By noon , the weather improved with slight sunshine. It was a perfect day to play soccer. The earlier rain did not cause the ground to be wet and muddy. But instead it was soft, flat and grassy. One of the best ground conditions ever experienced!

By 3.15pm, 14 players gathered for a time of devotion led by John . He touched on the topic of “keeping cool” when faced with anger . He said that it’s inevitable that disagreement will happen as we interact with others … even in a game of soccer. He reminded us that when faced with anger, we are to stop and prayerfully reflect for a moment and ask God for a calm spirit and the right words to say. He highlighted Proverbs 17: 27 telling us: "A man of knowledge uses words with restrain, and a man of understanding is even –tempered.”

Soon after devotion followed with prayer, it was time for the 7 blues and 7 reds to hit the pitch . With only 14 players, we decided to use the small pitch which is complete with markings and smaller goal posts. It was kind of a futsal style of play as the ball was often passed swiftly to the feet.

The 1st half ended with a score of 4 : 4.

The 2nd half saw another 2 players arriving to join the 14 = 16 players. The small pitch became crowed and more goals were scored. The final score was 10 :10 = 20 goals! I have never heard of so many goals scored in our past game. Indeed, we were having a ball of a time !

At 5pm , the field warden arrived at the gate to inform us time’s up. As there was no next session booking (5-7pm) , we had to leave the place early so as allow him to lock up.

Sorry for not being able to report on how and who scored the many goals . To account for the 20 goals is no easy task as an old memory cannot hold that much information…..
