Soccer Fellowship Report [25th November]

The weather was threatening the whole day. It had rained and the sky looked dark. However, the last Soccer Fellowship session for the year still saw about 20 people turn up to slosh it out on a muddy open field. Attempts to play on the proper field failed because it was terribly waterlogged. I'm sure some of us thought we could swim in the middle of the field.

Nonetheless, everyone had a good time! The game was fast paced- requiring control and speed that the Blues possessed in greater abundance than the Whites. The Blues attacked with such ferocity and scored so many goals that everyone lost track of the score after an hour. Even after re-organising the team repeatedly, the Whites had no answer to the Blues' control of the game and managed to score only 1 goal for their efforts.

The game ended when the sky darkened further and all of us realised that we had enough.

Soccer Fellowship [25th November]

Soccer Fellowship is ON this Saturday, 25th November at the Open Field along Tampines Avenue 1, opposite Temasek Polytechnic.

There is a public car park next to Block 899. Access to this car park is from Tampines St. 81, off Tampines Avenue 3.

Please refer to the map below for details. For some reference, Springfield Secondary School is on the left-hand side of the map.

For team identification this week, please bring / wear a BLUE or WHITE jersey.

Friendly Match Report [11th November]

The rain was heavy and the sky looked gloomy throughout the day. When we arrived at Tampines Vista and checked out the field, it was soggy, with quite a lot of muddy puddles. However, the environmental conditions did not deter us from having a physical and exciting encounter with the Boys Brigade of the 23rd Company!

We started the match with a 4-4-2 formation and tried to use the long ball through the middle to bypass the defence and the soggy pitch. Some attempts were promising but did not avail to much until Jimmy controlled a neat pass and scored the games 1st goal. The BB responded with much conviction, using their speedy attackers to good effect and giving our ageing defence much headache. In one swift move down the middle, Kevin put the ball pass his own keeper while trying to clear it. 1-1. The pace of the game was quick, given the conditions and through some nice wing play, Jimmy scored again to put us into the lead. Again the BB pegged us back and Damien scored through an audacious lob that beat Maurice from the left wing. It looked as if it was going to be 2-2 going into the break but just before the 'whistle' blew, Glenn managed to put us ahead 3-2.

The 2nd half started with lots of swift movement up and down the field. Another move down the middle saw us grab our 4th goal of the game. Again, the BB fought back with determination and soon, the goal of the game arrived. Unable to clear the ball sufficiently from our penalty box, the ball bounced to Bangshi around 20 yards out and he unleased an unstoppable volley that bounced down from the upright and into the goal. 4-3! It was at this point that we put the game away with counter-attacks down the wings. Before long, a Sheldon scorcher and 2 more goals put us up 7-3. Again the BB fought back and scored twice more to make the final score 7-5. It was a thrilling encounter indeed with plenty of good goals to remember.

The match was certainly enjoyable and played in a very competitive spirit. We thank God for giving us the opportunity to bond on the soccer field and enjoy ourselves in this manner. Thank you BB for having this friendly with us. Final Score-

Hi everyone, thanks to all those who have responded to be part of the squad for this Saturday's friendly against Boys Brigade 23rd Company. All places have been filled and registration is now CLOSED. For all those who have signed up, see you at the pitch on Saturday!

Soccer Friendly [11th November]

The friendly between PMC Soccer Fellowship (wearing Red) and Boys Brigade 23rd Company (wearing White) is CONFIRMED and will take place at Tampines Vista [please refer to map below]. The venue has been changed as Singapore Sports Council is refurbishing all school fields during the month of November, hence we can't use our usual ground for the whole month.

The Tampines Vista field has been booked from 5 - 7 pm for this friendly and the kick-off should take place at about 515 pm.

Participation requires registration by email so please let me know if you are coming so that the team line-up and strategy can be planned in advance. Participation is limited to the first 16 players to register as this will be an 11-a-side, 45 minute per half match.


* The exact location of the field is next to Block 870, at the junction of Tampines Ave 5 and 8. To give you a sense of where the field is, Springfield Secondary School is just just down the road along Tampines Ave 8. For those driving, you can park at the Car Park next to Block 871 or Block 867. To make sure you get there on time, please set off early!
