Blessed Christmas & New Year!

2009 has come to an end and the PMC Soccer Community has much to be thankful for. We had many Soccer Fellowship sessions, took part in the Agape Cup, Soccer-for-Bibles, MWS Tournament and Caleb Cup, and also played friendlies against a number of teams. We made friends, renewed friendships and hopefully as a Community, moved closer to the 4 goals we've established. The slideshow below from PMC Cup 2009 probably captures the essence of what our Soccer Community is all about.

Futsal Fellowship [28th Nov] *CANCELLED*

*This session has been cancelled due to insufficient number of participants*

The next Futsal Fellowship is on Saturday, 28th Nov, 4 - 6pm. Aim to be there by 345pm so that we can start on time.

If there are between 10 - 12 players for a session, we will go 1hr with 2 teams.

If there are between 14 - 18 players, we will keep it to 2hrs among 3 teams.

Alternatively, players can sign up as a team and manage their subs for the game.

Futsal Fellowship [21st Nov]

The next Futsal Fellowship is on Saturday, 21st Nov, 4 - 6pm. Aim to be there by 345pm so that we can start on time.

Futsal Fellowship Report [14th Nov]

With 3 teams participating, we had a mini-tournament over 2hrs at Sports Planet. The 3 teams were:

FIOFAFI - Tim C, Steve, Neil, Fred & Yazid

PMC - Jem Sin, Joel, Joel's friend, David Lim, Michael Chua & Damian

Vasantham Star - Rusydi, Marcus, Jingzhong, Nigel & Wei En

Each team played 6 10min games. 3 each against the 2 others teams. The results were:

Round 1

FIOFAFI 3 : 2 Vasantham Star

FIOFAFI 2 : 0 PMC

Vasantham Star 2 : 1 PMC

Round 2

Vasantham Star 4 : 2 FIOFAFI

PMC 2 : 1 FIOFAFI

PMC 1 : 2 Vasantham Star

Round 3

FIOFAFI 3 : 2 Vasantham Star

FIOFAFI 4 : 1 PMC

Vasantham Star 5 : 3 PMC

Final Standings:

1. FIOFAFI - 12 points (+4 goal difference)

2. Vasantham Star - 12 points (+ 4 goal difference)

3. PMC - 3 points (-8 goal difference)

By virtue that FIOFAFI beat Vasantham Star twice in their 3 encounters, FIOAFI was proclaimed champions of the mini-tournament. It was a good workout for everyone and the breaks in-between games proved useful to talk about tactics/formation and prepare for upcoming games.

Futsal Fellowship [14th Nov]

The next futsal fellowship is on Saturday, 14th Nov, 4 - 6pm. We will gather at 345pm for a time of devotion before we start.

If there are between 10 - 12 players for a session, we will go 1hr with 2 teams.

If there are between 14 - 18 players, we will keep it to 2hrs among 3 teams.

Alternatively, players can sign up as a team and manage their subs for the game.

Vasantham Star has already signed up as a team, so we need just 10 more players to confirm a 2hr session, which many have said they prefer.

Futsal Fellowship Report [7th Nov]

Futsal Fellowship last Saturday turned out to be a friendly between PMC and FIOFAFI (although 4 out of the 5 FIOFAFI players have represented PMC in various matches). It proved to be a reasonable way to split the teams and give the younger PMC Soccer Team players to have a rare run-out together and manage playing positions and substitutes. The teams were:

PMC - Marcus, JZ, Damien, Damian, Rusydi, Jem Sin, Wei En & Nigel

FIOFAFI - Neil, John S, Steve, Tim C & Kevin

The scoring started with PMC taking a 1-0 then 2-0 lead. After some organisation and nice moves, FIOFAFI fired in 2 goals to pull it back to 2-2. From there, scoring went back and forth till 4-4. That was when the PMC guys started to pull away, going ahead 7-4, then 8-5. The closest FIOFAFI got after that was 10-6. The final score was 12-6.

PMC put together some nice flowing moves and players were very clinical to put away chances when faced with the many 1-on-1 situations against the FIOFAFI keeper. Defence was also quite tight and there was good composure when leading.

After the game, we gathered and sang Rusydi his birthday song. Happy Birthday 19th Birthday Rusydi!

Also in the news this morning, another ex-National Player collapsed and passed away while playing soccer.

Please remember to keep fit and take a rest if you are feeling unwell while exercising. We are out for fun and fellowship, so don't push it if you feel uncomfortable.

Futsal Fellowship Report [1st Nov]

School fields are unavailable at this period of the year as the school fields are undergoing field maintenance or used by CCAs. Despite that, the PMC Soccer Community will continue to have Futsal Fellowship sessions @ Sports Planet East Coast for us to continue to keep fit and fellowship with one another.

On Sunday, Marcus, Michael and I arrived late and started playing around 4.15pm. The line-ups were:

Reds- Justin, Nick, Damien, Damian & Michael Chua

Whites - Marcus, Rusydi, Tim Cheong, Kevin & George/Raymond (shared 1 spot)

It was a good run-out for everyone as we played a good 1 hour of simple fast paced soccer. Improving our touches, making every play count and going all out with whatever we have for that hour.

The score was probably 12-7 to the Reds, but no one kept note of the score as we were all just continue playing and playing to enjoy the game. Seeing a total of 11 players on Sunday, we hope to get more people involved in the following sessions to come!

Futsal Fellowship [1st Nov]

Due to unavailability of school fields in the final 2 months of the year, the PMC Soccer Community will continue to have regular Futsal Fellowship sessions @ Sports Planet East Coast for us to continue to keep fit and fellowship with one another.

The 1st is planned for this Sunday, 1st Nov, 4-6pm but we will gather at 345pm for a time of devotion before we start.

We will use the blog to facilitate sign-up for all these sessions. Just post a comment with your name to confirm interest.

If there are between 8-10 players for a session, we will go 1hr with 2 teams.

If there are between 12-18 players, we will keep it to 2hrs among 3 teams.

Please sign-up ASAP as booking for the pitch will have to be cancelled by this Friday should there be less than 8 players signing up for the session.

PMC Cup 2009 Report [24th Oct]

After 3hrs of Futsal frenzy among 8 teams, Paper Airplane emerged champions of PMC Cup 2009! Congratulations! More importantly, everyone had a good time of sport and BBQ by the beach. We praise God for blessing us with wonderful weather and fellowship on Saturday.
