Soccer Fellowship Report (3rd November)

The weather was really cooling, accompanied by some light drizzle. That seemed to be the perfect weather for a time of soccer kickabout together. As there were as many as 5 new friends, we had some brief introduction with one another. The devotion was based on Dr Richard Teo's testimony, sharing on his return to God after having experienced God's presence while struggling with terminal lung cancer. Dr Teo highlighted a vision which he had received while asleep, which is taken from Hebrews 12:7-8: "Endure hardship as discipline as God is treating you as His children."

Due to low turnout, the game was played using half a field with benches on both ends as goal posts. It was a 6v5 game with Reds & Blacks (RB) against other colours (OC). The game started brightly for OC with some good individual skills and pace, resulting to a 3-1 lead. However, OC players were starting to get tired after some time and RB players were able to fight back with some great interplay and neat passes, ending the first half with 3-3. At half time, 2 players left and we had to re-group with Reds vs OC. The 2nd half started with both teams playing in an offensive fashion. The OC was able to exploit the Reds' one man down deficit and led them by 7-5. Just as many thought it would end the same way as the recent high-scoring Arsenal vs Reading match, the Reds pushed up all the way and leveled the score after 2 quick goals within the last few minutes. Cheers for both teams!
