The leaders of the Soccer Community would like to wish all members of the Community a blessed Christmas filled with the love, joy and peace that the birth of Jesus brings.
As we reflect on the year gone by, there are many situations in life that are BAD and UGLY that cause us to lose hope, for example, natural disasters, senseless killing/violence and human failings like infidelity. Through all of these, we can see the depravity of humanity and our helplessness when facing the natural elements. It is thus apt that at Christmas time, our hopes are renewed through the GOOD news of Jesus Christ in the story of His birth and life.
It is our hope that in 2013, God's love will be real to all of us as we continue to live, work and play, and also strengthen the bonds we have as a Soccer Community.

PMC Cup 2012 Results
Congratulations to all the teams and players that participated in PMC Cup 2012. We hope that the message shared by Pastor Siew Chye was meaningful, there was opportunity to fellowship and that the football was fulfilling. The final standings are:

PMC Cup 2012 (2nd December)

All the above teams have been crowned PMC Cup champions in the last 6 years. The time has come for the 7th edition of the PMC Cup on 2nd December 2012.
The objective of this year's PMC Cup is to encourage soccer lovers in PMC as well as regular Soccer Fellowship / Soccer Team players to interact and further strengthen the PMC Soccer Community. So don’t wait any longer, get your team together and register early!!!!

Venue - St Patrick's School, 490 East Coast Road
Format - Single round-robin (11-a-side matches of 20min duration each)

Soccer Fellowship Report (3rd November)
The weather was really cooling, accompanied by some light drizzle. That seemed to be the perfect weather for a time of soccer kickabout together. As there were as many as 5 new friends, we had some brief introduction with one another. The devotion was based on Dr Richard Teo's testimony, sharing on his return to God after having experienced God's presence while struggling with terminal lung cancer. Dr Teo highlighted a vision which he had received while asleep, which is taken from Hebrews 12:7-8: "Endure hardship as discipline as God is treating you as His children."
Due to low turnout, the game was played using half a field with benches on both ends as goal posts. It was a 6v5 game with Reds & Blacks (RB) against other colours (OC). The game started brightly for OC with some good individual skills and pace, resulting to a 3-1 lead. However, OC players were starting to get tired after some time and RB players were able to fight back with some great interplay and neat passes, ending the first half with 3-3. At half time, 2 players left and we had to re-group with Reds vs OC. The 2nd half started with both teams playing in an offensive fashion. The OC was able to exploit the Reds' one man down deficit and led them by 7-5. Just as many thought it would end the same way as the recent high-scoring Arsenal vs Reading match, the Reds pushed up all the way and leveled the score after 2 quick goals within the last few minutes. Cheers for both teams!

Soccer Fellowship is on this Saturday, 3rd November at Changkat Changi Secondary School*. The session will be from 3 - 5 pm. Even though the pitch is small, it is ideal for 9-a-side matches. Do come down if you can!
Please bring more than 1 coloured jersey so that we can distribute everyone into teams as necessary. Please pray for good weather! If you suspect the session is cancelled, please check the blog/email for more information before you head for the field. Cancellation of session will be broadcast on the blog and by email immediately when we are informed by Sports Council.

Soccer Fellowship is on this Saturday, 20th October at Changkat Changi Secondary School*. The session will be from 3 - 5 pm. We're back there as no other fields are available in October. Even though the pitch is small, it is ideal for 9-a-side matches. Do come down if you can!

Soccer Fellowship Report (13th October)
It was a wet field following the heavy rain . Thank God for a not-bad condition for soccer as weather was cool and ground was soft. By around 3.15 pm, about 13 players arrived. Without further waiting, it was time for devotion. The Bible text was taken from Joshua 1: 9 "Be strong and of good courage; do to be afraid, nor be dismayed, for the Lord your God is with you wherever you go. " A message to assure us that God is always in control and He will never leave us. After prayer, it was time to hit the field!
It was 6 youngsters against 7 mostly older players. Scoring allowed only in the inner box without goalkeeper. At the end of half time, the 7 players did better to win 9-6. Before resuming play for 2nd half, 4 of our young players had to leave us for another appointment. It would have been our 9 players left to play but fortunately, 10 sec 4 kids arrived and were invited to play against us in a friendly. This time scoring allowed anywhere with goalkeepers.
The kids mostly displayed fairly good individual skills, fast and lots of stamina but lack teamwork. Our 9 players who are familiar with one another did better to win them with a score of 4-2.
By 5.00pm, the field warden signalled us to stop play. Thank God for the wonderful time time of soccer fellowship!

6th Oct - First Soccer Fellowship since Crossoad 2012
This was our first fellowship on a Saturday since the curtain fell on our maiden CrossRoad campaign 2012. The weather was cooling with heavy downpour threatening at our doorsteps. The dark cloud was waiting to pounce from north/northeastern direction. Thank God the rain cloud withheld its weapon.
We started the fellowship with me sharing the topic on Richest Fool, highlighting a passage from Luke 12:13-21, emphasising on building up riches not ourselves but for God. After the sharing, I opened the fellowship with a prayer and then the group was split between mainly whites and mainly blue/red for the game. I had to excuse my myself from the game because of an elbow injury. However, the turnout was quite good with about 18 of us playing. In fact this was much better than expected actually.
The game started brightly for both sides, with good ball possession and dribbling skills displayed. I was blessed to be able to see both sides score a few goals before I left the venue for my appointment that Saturday. I remembered the score was 3-2 with the blue/red leading (they were also the one who opened the scoring account) when I leave.
In the end, Marcus informed me that the final score was 6-5 to the blue/red team. I will assume that the second part of the game was balanced between the two teams with six more goals added by both sides. It must have been a very good outing for all of us PMC players. Kudos to all! God bless!
Oh btw, oops! I took some photographs during the play but at this point of time, have not downloaded them from my iPhone. I will do so in my next blogging. Sorry!! And enjoy the week!
