Soccer Fellowship Report [4th October]

It was a sunny afternoon, with about 19 of us gathered to enjoy another session of Soccer Fellowship. We also welcomed a new friend to our community, Felipe, who is a true blue Brazillian. Kevin started off with a devotion about the discipline of practice, and how we need to continually spend time with God to build a relationship, just like how we need to spend time with our girlfriends or families.

After the devotion, Soccer Fellowship got under-way. Both teams decided to play without goalkeepers and allowed scoring only from the 6-yard box. This method had allowed more control and passing in previous weeks. The first half was dominated by the Reds, who had much better control of the ball in midfield, as well as a one man advantage, until Jeremy Tan Boon Wei arrived for the Blues. The Reds played very aggressively and stretched the defence of the Blues. The Reds managed to score quite a few goals until we lost count. The Blues also had a few at goal, but some were poorly taken, while others were fended off by the Reds. By the end of the first half, the Blues were down by many goals to nil.

The second-half however proved to be a much better game for the Blues. Despite the Reds still having a upper-hand in the game, the Blues fought back, and created more chances for attackers, Joel and Teck Hui. The Blues were also able to defend their half much better, with Rusydi as the last man, and eventually got one goal of their own, with Teck Hui scoring the first goal for the Blues, by taking advantage of complacency in the Red's defence. The Red's responded with Jeremy and Kee Min attacking down the middle, and the fast-footed Felipe down the left flank. The Red's managed to score a few more goals. While the Blues also scored 2 more goals, both by Teck Hui, giving him a hat trick.

Overall, everyone had a very good run out, and thoroughly enjoyed themselves in the process.
