Agape Cup 2009 - Pandas Match #4 .vs. Aldersgate Methodist Church [14th June]

The Pandas arrived at The Hiding place on a scorching hot sunday with excatly 11 bamboo sticks to take to the field against a very strong full squad of AMC players. Before the battle begins, Pandas were assigned to lead the worship and so Maurice and Adrian went up, singing praises to the Lord. The devotion was lead by 1 of the Hiding Place guy who shared his life testimony on how God has changed his life and paved his way.

After that, all 11 Pandas took to the field, leaving noone on the bench. With the past experience of playing AMC (as recent as the soccer-for-bibles tournament) back in our head, we decided to park a bus infront of our goal, leaving Samuel Eyo the lone striker up front to harass the defenders. As we have no substitutes, Pandas decided to sit deep and let AMC come at us, containing them instead of pressing up high to save stamina. Pandas kickoff the first half, trying to play our own game with triangle short passes. Sadly the fast and youthful AMC was often quick to close Pandas down and gain possesion very easily. The first 10 minustes saw AMC play coming mostly from the right as their right mid often sent in early deep cross into the box, where their strikers would linger inbetween the right back and centre back. Pandas were fortunate that no clinical finish came out of it. However the first goal came soon after when AMC CM manage to win possesion and drive a very well taken long shot into the bottom right corner of the goal, leaving outstretched Michael no chance. Play resumed and continued to revolve around Pandas left flank, this time with Damian constantly using the same skill to beat the big AMC RM, by pushing left and running right. Too much of that wasted his chance as well when Damien pushed it round the gk too before a AMC defender cleared the danger. 2 more goals for AMC came soon after. A cross form the left wing found AMC striker unmarked and he cooly nod it past Macheal. Halftime came and score was: AMC 3 Pandas 0.

AMC kickoff the 2nd half with 2 to 3 changes, a luxury of fresh legs that the Pandas could not afford. With 3 goals lead, AMC played with lesser urgency and allowed Pandas more space to play their game. Pandas game play remain the same, plus tired legs out there since the total Pandas age easily quadrupled AMC full squad's age. No further goals came until the last 10 minutes as the game went at a slower pace now. The 4th goal came when a cross from the right went deep and took Michael by surprise, dipping into the far left post. AMC definitely did not mean that. A 5th goal came after that when a corner kick was not cleared properly and scrambled past the goalline by AMC. In between, Bangshi was unfortunate to get a yellow card for a soft challenge on AMC, injuring himself in the process as well. AMC still manage to substitute afew players in with the game coming to an end. No further goals came and the referee then brought the end of the 2nd half.

Final score: Pandas 0 AMC 5
